President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the painful economic reforms introduced by his administration are beginning to yield positive results, declaring that “the walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here.”
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, the President said the sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past three years had helped stabilise the economy and reposition the country as a preferred destination for investment, job creation, and economic growth.
Tinubu, who congratulated Muslims on the celebration of the Festival of Sacrifice, urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of faith, obedience, sacrifice, compassion, and unity exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He said the nation’s ongoing journey of “reconstruction and renewal” required patience and collective sacrifice, stressing that the reforms undertaken by his administration, though difficult, were necessary for the country’s long-term prosperity.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth,” the President stated.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he added.
The President also expressed confidence that the reforms would continue to improve security and create greater opportunities for citizens across the country.
Speaking on security challenges, Tinubu acknowledged that terrorists and bandits were still attacking some communities despite intensified operations by security and intelligence agencies.
He referenced the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader and assured affected communities that the government remained committed to defeating criminal elements threatening national peace and stability.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
The President called on Muslims to use the Eid celebration to pray for Nigeria, peace in communities, and wisdom for leaders at all levels.
He also urged Nigerians to show kindness to the less privileged, strengthen bonds of brotherhood, and encourage those involved in criminal activities to abandon their ways or face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development to fulfil what he described as “the great promise” of Nigeria.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed that Allah would accept the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful.
