President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mr. Mark Joseph Carney on his victory in the recent Canadian parliamentary elections and his emergence as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the Liberal Party’s triumph as a “hard-fought electoral victory” at a pivotal moment in Canada’s political and economic journey.
The Nigerian leader praised Carney’s extensive resume, highlighting his past roles as Governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. Tinubu expressed confidence that Carney’s wealth of experience in banking and governance will serve Canada well in navigating current global and domestic challenges.
President Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Canada, with particular emphasis on education, climate change, and migration.
He added that he looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister Carney’s administration to build on the mutual goodwill cultivated during the tenure of outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
