President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, flanked by state governors and senior officials, on Friday arrived at Mapo Hall in Ibadan to witness the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja, a former Oyo State governor and senator, was formally crowned following the customary placement of Akoko leaves, a ritual performed earlier at Labosinde Compound by Chief Waheed Popoola (Afobaje of Ibadanland).
The event drew eminent guests nationwide, including the Sultan of Sokoto, ex-governors Rabiu Kwankwaso and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and other traditional rulers.
To ensure security, roads around Mapo Hall were sealed and multiple security agencies deployed at strategic points.
Ladoja, now 81, succeeds Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed on July 7, 2025.
