President Bola Tinubu has approved the construction of the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado Ekiti and Aramoko-Ijero-Ifaki Ekiti roads, which will be included in the Federal Government’s 2026 budget.
A letter confirming the approval has been sent from the Office of the President to the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, with a copy forwarded to the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji.
The development follows a visit by Oyebanji and Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, November 9, where the condition of federal roads in the state was discussed.
Public concern has grown over the poor state of some federal roads in Ekiti, particularly the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado route.
The Tinubu-led Federal Government has already awarded contracts for three federal roads in the state, with contractors mobilised to site.
Once completed, the two newly approved roads will improve travel, enhance connectivity, stimulate commercial activity, and open up the state to greater economic opportunities.
Oyebanji, speaking on behalf of the people of Ekiti, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for his strategic support in advancing the state’s socio-economic and infrastructural development.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens and pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Government, private sector partners, and development agencies to drive Ekiti’s progress.
