Tinubu Appoints New Directors-General for NIA, DSS

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been named the Director-General of the DSS.

Ambassador Mohammed brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career in the foreign service, which began in 1995 with the NIA. He has held various significant roles, including serving as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Ambassador Mohammed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and within the State House, Abuja.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new Director-General of the DSS, has risen through the ranks, most recently serving as Assistant Director-General. His extensive experience includes tenures as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi States.

These appointments follow the recent resignation of the former heads of the NIA and DSS.

President Tinubu has tasked the newly appointed security chiefs with the responsibility of enhancing the operational effectiveness of their respective agencies. He urges them to leverage their extensive experience to address the nation’s security challenges through strengthened collaboration with sister agencies and close coordination with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
