Timothy Oludare: Police Admit Error, Say Autopsy Will be Conducted Today

Ololade Adeyanju/

The Osun State Police Command has admitted to making a mistake when it announced that the remains of Timothy Adegoke Oludare, who was allegedly murdered at Hilton Hotel and Resorts, Ile-Ife, on November 7, were deposited at the morgue of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH).

The spokesperson of the Police, SP Yemisi Opalola, who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, yesterday, said the deceased’s remains were deposited at the Osun University Teaching Hospital (UTH), Osogbo.

Opalola said she erroneously mentioned that the deceased’s body was deposited at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital during a radio programme “based on misinformation”.

The clarification by the police followed a statement by the management of OAUTH, in which it denied having the corpse in its facility.

Opatola also disclosed that the autopsy on the slain Oludare was delayed because his family insisted on being part of the process.

She said the autopsy would now be carried out on Monday (today) at Osun University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

She also said that no part of the deceased’s body was removed when it was exhumed in the presence of his family members, police and pathologist as being rumoured.

She said, “The family has indicated that they will be available on Monday for the conduct of the autopsy.

“I will like to add that the deceased’s family members were equally present when the remains of the deceased were exhumed.

“The police, a pathologist and family members of the deceased witnessed the exhumation of the body and the family members can attest to it that no body part of the deceased was missing.”

Oludare was said to have travelled to Osun State to sit for an examination at OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro in Ife North Local Government Area when he was declared missing on November 7.

The remains of the deceased were later reportedly evacuated from a forest on Ede/Ife Road by the police.

Six suspects, said to be staff members of Hilton Hotels and Resort, Ile-Ife, and the owner, Ramon Adedoyin, were arrested after investigation had revealed that the late Oludare checked into the facility before he was declared missing.
