The owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile Ife, Dr Rahmon Adedoyin and three staff have been found guilty of murder of a Master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Timothy Adegoke.

The court presided over by Chief judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Ojo, found Adedoyin and two of his staff guilty of murder and conspiracy and sentenced them to death by hanging.

Ojo held that circumstantial evidence confirmed Adedoyin and two other staff working at the hotel, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem, killed Adegoke and tried to conceal the situation.

The judge said the owner of the hotel and the two staff, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful killing of the deceased.

Three other defendants in the case, Magdalene Chiefuna, Lawrence Oluwole and Adedji Adesola, were discharged and acquitted for the various offences preferred against them by the prosecution.

The court was of the opinion that the offences for which they were charged did not go in tandem with the evidence elicited by the prosecution.

For the seventh defendant, she was only convicted for altering records and her sentencing has been further adjourned till tomorrow.
