Three Get Trial Date for Importing Methamphetamine to Lagos

A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned till October 6, for the continuation of the trial of three men who allegedly conspired to transport 15.834 Kilograms of Methamphetamine from Enugu to Lagos.

John Chukwuemeka Ubah, Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, and Nwafor Emmanuel Osita a. k. a. Ossy were standing trial before a Judge who has been transferred from the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court and will continue the trial after a fiat from the Chief Judge to continue.

In a five-count second amendment charge marked FHC/L/413C/2018 filed before the court by the NDLEA prosecutor, Barrister Augustine Nwagu, it was allegedly stated that the three defendants sometime in October 2018 at Enugu without lawful authority and in collusive arrangement with one Akachukwu and innocent Ebele who are now at large transported 15.834 Kilograms of Methamphetamine from Enugu to Lagos, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under section 11 (b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 laws of the Federation 2004.

The defendants are also being tried for the unlawful production and preparation of Methamphetamine. They pleaded not guilty to the charge when they were arraigned. They are currently on bail.

The Second amendment charge as filed before the court by Barrister Augustine Nwagu says.

That you John Chukwuemeka Ubah, male, adult; Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, male, adult, Nwafor Emmanuel Osita A.K.A Ossy. male, adult; Akachukwu, male, adult (now at large) and Innocent Ebele, male, adult (now at large) sometime in October 2018 at Enugu in Enugu State conspired among yourselves to transport to Lagos 15.834 kilograms of Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD or Heroin and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 14(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

COUNT 2

That you John Chukwuemeka Ubah, male, adult, Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, male, adult, and Nwafor Emmanuel Osita A.K.A Ossy. male, adult; on or about the 12th day of October 2018 without lawful authority transported 15.834 kilograms of Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD or Heroin from Enugu to Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 11(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

COUNT 3

That you Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, male, adult; Nwafor Emmanuel Osita A.K.A Ossy. Male, adult; Akachukwu, male, adult (now at large) and Innocent Ebele, male, adult (now at large) on or about the 12th day of October 2018 aided John Chukwuemeka Ubah, male, adult to transport to Lagos 15.834 kilograms of Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD or Heroin to Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 14(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

COUNT 4

That you John Chukwuemeka Ubah, male, adult; Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, male, adult; Nwafor Emmanuel Osita A.K.A Ossy. male, adult; Akachukwu, male, adult (now at large) and Innocent Ebele, male, adult (now at large) in 2018 conspired among yourselves to engage in the production and preparation of

Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, LSD, or Heroin, and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 14(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

COUNT 5

That you Okoye ThankGod Ogbonna, male, adult; Nwafor Emmanuel Osita A.K.A Ossy. male, adult; Akachukwu, male, adult (now at large) and Innocent Ebele, male, adult (now at large) sometime in 2018 at Block A4, Goshen Estate, Premier Layout, Enugu, Enugu State engaged in the production and preparation of 15.834 kilograms of Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD or Heroin and thereby committed an offense under Section 20(1)(a) and punishable under Section 20(2) (a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
