TGF Pays Tribute to Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Hails Late Scholar’s Patriotism, Support for National Unity

The Transformative Governance Forum (TGF) has joined millions of Nigerians and members of the global Tijaniyya Islamic community in mourning the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing his passing as the end of a monumental era of faith, wisdom, and national cohesion.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the Forum celebrated the late cleric as “a colossal figure” whose life’s work strengthened the moral fabric of the nation through knowledge, compassion and a tireless commitment to peace.

“Sheikh Bauchi was not merely a cleric; he was an icon of enlightenment who bridged divides across faiths and regions,” the statement read. “He devoted his life to nurturing the human spirit and promoting harmony among Nigerians.”

TGF also highlighted the late scholar’s influential role in Nigeria’s political landscape, noting his “exceptional patriotism and moral courage” in openly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last presidential election.

The Forum said the endorsement reflected the cleric’s lifelong devotion to unity, stability, and good governance.

“At a defining moment for the country, Sheikh Bauchi stood firmly for a united and progressive Nigeria. His voice helped foster a sense of shared purpose that transcended traditional boundaries,” the group stated.

The Forum extended its condolences to the late scholar’s family, followers, and the entire nation, describing him as “a voice of wisdom and a beacon of stability.”

While acknowledging the deep sense of loss felt across the country, TGF urged Nigerians to honour Sheikh Bauchi’s legacy by upholding his values of tolerance, knowledge, and active citizenship.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi has completed his earthly journey, but his light endures. May Almighty Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” the group stated.
