The Transformative Governance Forum (TGF) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination of former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd.), as an Ambassador-Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
TGF described the appointment, in a statement, as a “well-deserved national honour” and a strategic move to position Nigeria’s finest minds at the forefront of global diplomacy.
TGF’s Director of Strategic Engagements & Partnerships, Ademola Rabiu, said the nomination reflected President Tinubu’s confidence in Dambazau’s distinguished record of public service, transformative leadership, and unwavering commitment to national development.
Rabiu noted that the former Army Chief, who also holds a PhD in Criminology, embodies a rare blend of high-level security expertise, academic depth, and governance experience that will significantly enrich Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements.
“As a decorated military commander, a scholar of global repute, and a former Minister of Interior, General Dambazau brings unmatched value to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions. His expertise in security-sector reform, governance, and international relations makes him a formidable asset on the global stage,” the Forum stated.
Within the TGF, the “People’s General” is celebrated as a voice of wisdom and a steadfast advocate for accountable governance, national unity, and the rule of law. The Forum credited his contributions with strengthening its mission to promote transformative leadership across Nigeria’s public institutions.
TGF expressed full confidence that Dambazau will bring the same dedication, integrity, and strategic vision that have defined his career to his new assignment, adding that his nomination is “a commendable step toward advancing Nigeria’s interests and prestige internationally.”
The Forum extended warm felicitations to Dambazau, his family, the people of Kano State, and Nigerians at large, while urging the Senate to give his nomination prompt and favourable consideration.
TGF also assured him of its full support as he prepares to undertake what it called “a noble national assignment of significant diplomatic value.”
The statement was signed by Ademola Rabiu, CEng., Director of Strategic Engagements & Partnerships, Transformative Governance Forum.
