Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has hailed teachers as “true heroes” who shape minds, nurture dreams, and guide future generations, as the world marks World Teachers’ Day 2025 today, October 5.
In a message to commemorate the global event themed “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage”, the First Lady emphasized the urgent need to address the crisis of dwindling numbers of educators worldwide.
“The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency, by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession,” Senator Tinubu stated.
Drawing from her own background as a lifelong teacher, the First Lady saluted Nigerian teachers for their resilience and dedication, urging society to value and support them.
“Teachers are true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations. As a lifelong teacher myself, I salute you all on this special day. Happy World Teachers’ Day 2025,” she stated.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5 to honor educators and highlight issues affecting the teaching profession. This year’s theme shines a spotlight on the global teacher shortage, which experts warn poses a major threat to education quality and access across nations.
