Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, is in mourning following the tragic death of his younger sister, Atsi Kefas, who succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during an attack on her convoy last Thursday.
Reports indicate that gunmen ambushed the convoy in Wukari, Taraba State. A police officer, attempting to repel the attackers, accidentally shot Atsi, who was traveling with the governor’s mother, Jummai Kefas.
Both women were evacuated by troops using an air ambulance and taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari.
Atsi was later transferred to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for further treatment but passed away yesterday night.
The Secretary to the State Government, Timothy Kataps, confirmed the tragic news, saying, “Unfortunately, it is true. May her soul rest in peace.”
The incident has sent shockwaves across the state, with calls for prayers and support for the governor and his family during this difficult time.
As of now, neither the state government nor the Kefas family has issued an official statement.
