A petrol tanker exploded along the Gombe Biu bypass, in Gombe State today killing 11 people and injuring several others.
NewsmakersNG learnt that four persons are in critical conditions at the Accident and Emergency section of the State Specialist Hospital in Gombe, while 10 others who suffered minor injuries have been treated and discharged.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a fully loaded petrol tanker, which seemed to have had a brake failure, rammed a truck loaded with bottled water and also crushed two motorcycles and two tricycles.
Some of the victims were reportedly burnt beyond recognition.
