Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has floored the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki in the just concluded Presidential Primary of the Peoples Democratic Party won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Based on the votes counted by the Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Tambuwal doubles Saraki’s votes.
While Saraki polled a total of 317 votes, Tambuwal recorded 693 votes. Tambuwal also beat former Kano Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who only polled 158 votes.
Atiku who won with 1532 votes had already expressed gratitude to the delegates and the party in a tweet on his Twitter handle.
The full result as announced by Okowa are, Atiku Abubakar, 1,532 votes; Aminu Tambuwal, 693 votes; Bukola Saraki , 317 votes; Jonah Jang, 19 votes; Datti Ahmed, 5 votes; David Mark , 35 votes; Tanimu Turaki, 65 votes; Sule Lamido, 96 votes; Attahiru Bafarawa, 48 votes; Ibrahim Dankwambo, 111 votes; Ahmed Makarfi, 74 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso, 158 votes.
