The woman arrested by the police in Lagos for impersonating and robbing guests at a wedding party is spending Christmas in jail.
Twenty-year-old Sarah Ifeoluwa Adekunle was taken to Kirikiri Prison in Lagos yesterday, when she couldn’t meet her bail conditions at Court 17 of the Magistrate Court in Ogba.
When her lawyer pushed for bail, the Judge gave N40, 000, two sureties and provision of tax clearance, but the suspect could not readily meet any of the conditions.
The case was adjourned to January 20, 2017. She was thereafter taken to Kirikiri Prison, to be remanded until the bail conditions are met.
The suspect, who was charged for stealing and impersonation, revealed that she is a beautician with a shop at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos. But she was introduced to her new ‘trade’ by a boyfriend in Ikeja.
Sarah was arrested at a wedding party, at La-Occasions Event Centre in Lagos. She was accused of stealing money and handsets after posing as a relative assisting the bride and groom, as well as other family members, to gather the money they were being sprayed on the dance floor.
When the story was published, several past victims contacted the police and provided evidence to show that Sarah has been committing such crimes for long.
