Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill Peacemaking Varsity Lecturer in Enugu

A lecturer at Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, in Anambra State, has been shot to death after attending a peace meeting between his kinsmen and Fulani herdsmen in Enugu State.

Dr Nnamdi Ogueche was allegedly murdered last night by the suspected herdsmen along Iwolo Road in Enugu State.

He was shot in the mouth.

Kinsmen told NewsmakersNG that the 40-year-old Don, who was also the Administrative Secretary at Uzo-Uwani Local Government Council in Enugu was killed after attending the peace meeting chaired by one retired General Eze.

The peace meeting between members of the communities in the area and the herdsmen deliberated on the incessant killings and attacks by suspected herdsmen, and the late Dr Ogueche was picked as a member of a team sent to assess the extent of malicious damage in yam bans located at Adaba and Umulokpa.

“He was killed on the way back from the assignment,” a security chief told NewsmakersNG.

Dr Ogueche, who hailed from Adaba in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, is survived by his wife, Mrs Grace Oguche, and three children – two girls and a boy.
