Super Eagles Soar, Now World 50 on FIFA Ranking

Latest FIFA ranking has seen the Super Eagles moving up 10 steps today to become number 50 in the world.

The team, which made Nigerians proud with a 3-1 defeat of Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier, has also been rated as the 8th best team in Africa.

Last month, the Super Eagles ranking was 60th in the world and 11th position in Africa.

Senegal has beaten Ivory Coast to the top position in Africa. Tunisia is 3rd, Egypt 4th and Algeria 5th, trailed by DR Congo, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco on the top 10 list.

Despite a 3-0 loss to Brazil in a World Cup qualifying match this month, Argentina is still in 1st position in FIFA ranking and Brazil is 2nd, while the World Cup champion, Germany is in 3rd place. Argentina is also yet to win a major title in the four-year cycle of results that decide FIFA rankings.
