Students and the Police have formed a pact in Lagos to foster peace and security in the society.

According to a statement from the Lagos State Taskforce, representatives of the Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Agency at his Office in Bolade, Oshodi to commend him on the good work he and his team are doing in instilling discipline and orderliness on Lagos Roads and the Environment.

The delegation of NANS which was led by the State Chairman, Comrade Olusesi Tolulope highlighted some of the challenges students are facing at the hands of security agents in the State. He appealed for synergy between the Association and the Taskforce to foster peace and security in the society.

“Students in Lagos and Nigeria at large are facing communication breaches, harassment, and misrepresentation from security agents, these are some of the reasons why we have come to appeal to you as a Father to foster a harmonious relationship between the students and security agents particularly the Lagos State Taskforce which is a frontline enforcer of Laws in the State, would give room for proper coordination and swift passage of information between both bodies,” says Tolulope.

The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye who was delighted to receive the students expressed his willingness to work with them in ensuring their environment is safe and secure enough for them to carry out their studies without any form of hindrance from criminal elements.

“I appreciate your ingenuity and initiative in fostering harmony in our society. I will give you all the necessary support you need to succeed and ensure that all issues brought up are dealt with holistically. You are the leaders of tomorrow, so it is only right for us to make sure that nothing hampers the process of attaining greatness for the Nigerian student,” Jejeloye said.

The Chairman urged them to keep up the good work and shun any form of criminal activity which is gravely frowned upon by society.

“You have started out on a beautiful note, and I urge you to carry on this way. Exhibit decency in everything you do because in life, you will either be remembered for the problem you caused or the problem you solved. We will support you and guide you to know that crime is not a career,” he said.
