Operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) were responsible for the midnight attack on the residence of Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Two persons were reportedly killed during the attack, while Sunday Igboho’s wife and some others were also whisked away by the attackers who wore military uniform.
The PUNCH reported that a top security source, who pleaded anonymity because he wasn’t authorised to speak on the matter, confirmed that the SSS was behind the attack on Sunday Igboho’s residence in Ibadan in the early hours of today.
“The SSS operated in his (Sunday Igboho) house in Ibadan on Thursday morning,” the security source reportedly disclosed.
The source, however, could not give details on whether Igboho was arrested or whether any of his aides were arrested or killed during the raid.
The SSS Spokesman, Peter Afunaya, neither denied nor confirmed the claim.
“Got into a meeting, will revert to you afterwards. Good afternoon,” Afunaya wrote in response to enquiries from the newspaper.
