Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has said that the State Security Services (SSS) sent a delegation to the federal high court in Abuja yesterday afternoon.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, Falana disclosed this at the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting event in Lagos.

The lawyer said the delegation visited the court to apologise for invading the premises.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the delegation was led by the SSS Director of Operations and Director of Legal.

They were said to have formally apologised to Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu in the office of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for the invasion of her court.

The SSS had invaded the court on Friday to rearrest Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement, barely 24 hours after he was released on the order of the same court.

“This afternoon, the SSS management sent a delegation to the court to apologise for the invasion of the court on Friday.

“We just fight injustice until it is over in our country,” Falana reportedly said.

Falana had earlier said the head of the DSS team who invaded the court apologised to Justice Ojukwu in her chambers on the day of the incident.

Online video clips had shown Sowore being pinned down by two men alleged to be operatives of the SSS while the supporters of the activist also struggled to free him.

The SSS has, however, claimed that it did not attempt arresting Sowore inside the court.

It insisted that his supporters only “stage-managed the drama” to bring the service to disrepute.

Also justifying Sowore’s rearrest, the Agency said he “resorted to acts inimical to security” immediately after he was released on bail.
