Sowore Discusses Nigeria with Citizens in Brazil, across the World …Highlights Roles of Gani Adams, Sunday Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu

By Adeyinka Olaiya/Brazil/

Nigerian human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, rubbed minds on national issues at the weekend with Nigerians in Brazil and across the world.

The Pro-democracy agitator who participated in a video conference chat coordinated in Brazil said that the intentions of some leaders like Iba Gani Adams, Chief Sunday Igboho, Masi Nnamdi Kanu and the rest are all retracts of what Nigeria has become in the recent years.

According to him, the trio sees beyond. He said that if Nigeria was just and conducive for all to live in peace, they wouldn’t be talking of dividing the nation. Sowore added that he would not blame anybody for leading separatist agitations but would continue to fight for a united and democratic Nigeria where every Nigerian would be treated equally.

In hours of video conference moderated by NewsmakersNG’s Adeyinka Olaiya and Uthman Dan Bakare, Sowore said that the injustice in Nigeria was too much for any normal citizen to withstand. He promised to remain firm in his struggles for a better Nigeria and a nation free from the machinations of some political bandits.

While responding to Chibuzor, a participant from Istanbul, Turkey, the pro- democracy leader said that the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebere Jonathan should be in jail for all his atrocities and corrupt malpractices. He cited Brazil as an example where ex-presidents are sentenced to jail terms for corruption. He also mentioned the recent confiscation of several billions of Naira from the purse of Patience Jonathan, the former first-lady.

Sowore who was applauded and also challenged by some participants during the conference said that he was always available to all Nigerians home and abroad to clear all doubts concerning why he has always exposed all corrupt presidents in Nigeria.

Sowore blamed the government of ex-presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as President Muhammadu Buhari for the chaos in Nigeria of today.

Fielding questions from a Brazil-based Nigerian Surgeon, Dr. Dele Yusuf, Sowore said that bandits should never be allowed to run Nigeria.

He said that political thieves would not be allowed to work in his government if he ever becomes President. He argued that the functions of lawmakers should not be full time, it should be part time. He said that parliamentarians should find other means of survival, not counting on the public purse to survive, because “it is a place to serve the nation, not the individual purse”. He cited Denmark as an example where parliamentary work is part time.

Active participants in the conference included Prof Adimula Adefioye, a Madam Ann from Colorado, United States, Mr Adefioye from Abuja, Oba Adekunle Aderounmu (Brazil), Alhaji Hakeem Apena, Mr Bayo Lawal, Adekunle Olaiya, Babalawo Adegboyega Najeem, Elder Micho, Pastor Kayode Bamidele, Dr. Emmanuel Oluwatuyi, James Osunde, Alhaji Musibau Akanni, Daniel Adebayo Majaro, Dipo Kehinde, Remi Ladigbolu, Osagie Fadaka, Olusesi Rufus, Alhaja Aminat, Damilola Aderounmu, Demilade Olaiya, Madam Oluwatosin, Tunji Awonusi, Mr. Uche Uzoigwe and several other notable names and agitators in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.

The representatives of all the separatist groups in Brazil were also present at the conference, including IPOB (Brazil Chapter), Yoruba One Voice (Brazil Chapter), OPC (Brazil chapter), and Ilana Omo Oodua (Brazil Chapter).
