Enugu Police Spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu

The police in Enugu have held a boy who fled after he allegedly killed his father with a pestle.

According to the police, the suspect, who was simply identified as ‘The Boy’ fled after he smashed the head of his 83-year-old father, Pa Nathaniel Chukwuemerie, at Ojinato area of the state.

The police spokesman in Enugu, SP Ebere Amaraizu, says in a statement today that the man was killed on May 4.

The late Chukwuemerie hailed from Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.

The police are yet to establish the motive of the crime.

“The suspect has been nabbed although information from a source closer to the place of the incident revealed that before the incident, the suspect had been behaving abnormally suggesting mental illness,’’ the statement reveals.

The victim’s body has been deposited at the Oji River General Hospital morgue.
