An X user, Lola Okunrin, has recalled a memorable encounter he had with one of the two Ekiti monarchs slained by suspected kidnappers on Monday, Onimojo of Imojo, Oba (Dr) Olatunde Samuel Olusola, while the deceased was a lecturer in the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State and he was a student.
The deceased and another colleague, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, were reportedly ambushed and shot dead along Irele/Oke Ako road, in Ikole local government area of the state, while returning from a traditional council meeting.
A third monarch, who was in the same vehicle with them, the Alara of Ara Ikole-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, managed to escaped.
In post today, the X user with the handle, @lollypeezle, described the late monarch as one of the best lecturers in the Quantity Survey Department, who was well loved by all students.
The post reads, “I am just realizing one of the slayed kings in Ekiti by the terrible kidnappers is Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Samuel.
“He was my best lecturer from another dept in FUTA that year. Everyone in my class loved him though he was in Quantity Survey Dept.
“I will never forget one of Kabiyesi’s class where he was teaching us about Formwork in construction. A lady raised her hand saying she didn’t understand the function of formwork. This man gently asked her, ‘those books, pen and calculator in front of you, are they yours?’
“She replied, ‘Yes’.
“He said, ‘is that bag yours too?’ She replied, ‘yes’. He said, ‘pack your things into your bag’ with a straight face. We all thought he was sending her out of the class. The lady was perplexed while packing her stuff into her bag amidst the silence. Then Kabiyesi said, ‘That is the function of a formwork. Same way your bag is holding your things and keeping them in a spot, that’s how formwork hold concrete mix during construction’.
“The entire class bursted [sic] out clapping. I can never forget that day. We all understood immediately. He was a grade ‘A’ lecturer, gentle going and full of smiles. A kingly lecturer.
“Rest in peace Kabiyesi!”
