Shell companies in Nigeria reinforced their commitment to the country’s energy sector with a high-profile exhibition at the 8th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja. Among the distinguished visitors to the Shell pavilion was the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
During his visit, the Minister received a briefing on Shell’s diverse operations in Nigeria, including recent gas investments by The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and advancements in deep-water oil production by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo). He commended Shell for its continued confidence in Nigeria’s energy sector and its contributions to industry growth.
A key highlight of the exhibition was a dedicated medical stand, organized as part of Shell’s Health-in-Motion initiative. A team of doctors, opticians, laboratory scientists, and nurses provided free healthcare services to hundreds of visitors, including conference attendees and members of the public. The team conducted health screenings, tests, and treatments, distributing over 300 medicated glasses and offering eye care to nearly 400 individuals.
Shell’s presence at NIES 2025 extended beyond the exhibition. As a Platinum Sponsor, the company played a significant role in the event, with its executives actively participating in plenary and workshop sessions. In recognition of its industry leadership, Shell was honored with the Best Upstream Company 2024 award at the summit.
“We are pleased to be part of the Nigeria International Energy Summit, which highlights the country’s oil and gas potential to the world,” said Osagie Okunbor, Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director of SPDC. “As in previous years, Shell was proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor for the 2025 edition, while also engaging meaningfully in discussions that shape the industry. We hope the insights shared at the conference will drive reforms and attract further investments.”
