Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd. (SNEPCo), a key sponsor of the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF), has lauded the event as a vital platform for driving positive change in Nigeria’s energy sector.

The company praised OLEF for fostering critical discussions on business performance, cost discipline, and process simplification within the industry.

“This event holds a special place in the Shell brand, not just for the nostalgia of Oloibiri, but for the depth and quality of discourse it has consistently enabled in our sector,” said SNEPCo Managing Director, Mr. Ronald Adams, in a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the General Manager, Wells and Geosciences Operations, Mr. Joe Mordi.

Adams expressed appreciation to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the event’s host, for organizing yet another successful edition.

Established in 1991 by the SPE Nigeria Council, the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum commemorates Nigeria’s first commercial oil discovery by Shell at Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, in 1956. Adams noted that recent milestones in both the upstream and downstream sectors, including Shell’s $5 billion final investment decision in the Bonga North Deepwater project, reflect the enduring legacy of that historic discovery.

“These strides come with a responsibility to pursue excellence—not just for our stakeholders and colleagues, but for our country and future generations,” Adams said. “The theme of this year’s event, ‘Driving Energy Sustainability through Technology, Policy and Supply Chain Excellence,’ mirrors our collective commitment to shaping a brighter energy future. We have a unique opportunity to co-create that future.”
