Two suspected sex workers have been held by the police in Ogun over the murder of a middle-aged man in a hotel at Ifo area of the state.
The suspects were identified as Kudirat Raji aka Angela and Esther Basiru.
The victim was named as one Adeyinka Olayinka.
According to a statement from the state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were arrested at KS Hotel, in Ifo.
Oyeyemi said, “The victim was in Ifo to supervise the construction of a house he was building in the area, and he decided to pass the night on the fateful day.”
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the victim contracted Angela to pass the night with him on an agreed fee, but he reneged on the agreement. This allegedly led to a quarrel, during which Esther and Angela allegedly broke bottles and stabbed the man.
“The deceased was stabbed in the armpit, and one of his veins was badly cut and he bled to death,” Oyeyemi said,
He added that the hotel manager quickly alerted the police and the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Anthony Haruna, led his men to the scene, where he arrested the suspects.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the transfer of the case to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for discrete investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects,” Oyeyemi said.
