Several American military personnel and contractors were injured after debris from an intercepted Iranian ballistic missile struck a major United States-operated air base in Kuwait.

The attack reportedly occurred within the past 24 hours at the Ali Al Salem Air Base, a key US military facility located north-west of Kuwait City.

Sources told Bloomberg News that Kuwaiti air defences intercepted an incoming Iranian Fateh-110 ballistic missile before it reached its intended target, but falling debris landed inside the base, causing injuries and significant damage.

Reports indicate that about five Americans, including active-duty military personnel and civilian contractors, sustained minor injuries.

One MQ-9 Reaper surveillance and strike drone was reportedly destroyed, while another suffered serious damage. Each aircraft is valued at roughly $30 million.

The reported strike marks one of the most serious incidents involving US personnel in Kuwait since tensions between Washington and Tehran escalated earlier this year.

The Ali Al Salem Air Base serves as a critical hub for American air operations across the Gulf region and hosts both US and allied forces.

The latest development comes amid a fragile ceasefire arrangement between the United States and Iran.

Although both sides have publicly discussed extending the truce, military exchanges have continued across the region.

Iran previously acknowledged targeting a US military installation in Kuwait, describing the action as retaliation for earlier American operations against Iranian-linked military assets.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly said the base had been used to support attacks on Iranian targets and warned that any further military action would trigger a stronger response.

Kuwait strongly condemned the missile attack, describing it as a violation of its sovereignty and security.

Several Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, also denounced the incident and expressed support for Kuwait.

US Central Command had not publicly confirmed the reported injuries at the time of publication, according to reports.

The incident comes as President Donald Trump continues to consider proposals aimed at extending the ceasefire and reopening broader negotiations with Iran over regional security and its nuclear programme.

Reports suggest White House officials recently held high-level discussions on possible next steps as concerns grow over the risk of a wider regional conflict.
