The Senate has acknowledged Abia State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adeleye Olushola Oyebade as the most outstanding CP on Security Reforms and Good Leadership in Nigeria.
Based on the recognition, Oyebade has received a Certificate of Award from the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, signed by the Chairman, Senator Abu Ibrahim.
Newsmakersng learnt that the Senate Committee presented the National Security Award Recognition in collaboration with the Nigeria Media Links, at an event, at the International Press Center, in Abuja.
The coordinator of Nigeria Media Links, Mr Calistus Duru, said, “Policemen in Abia under the leadership of Oyebade are alive to their responsibilities.”
Oyebade was described as an officer who has been working tirelessly in pursuit of the objectives of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris.
Meanwhile, the police in Abia ended the reign of a gang of armed robbers, on Sunday, and recovered some vehicles, stolen properties, arms and ammunition.
The state police spokesman, DSP Geoffrey Ogbona told Newsmakersng that two hoodlums were killed in a shootout with the police, and one of the bandits identified as Ugochukwu Emeka Uche, was arrested alive.
He said, “The police recovered two Toyota vehicles – 4Runner Jeep marked DR 413 ENU and Corolla Saloon Car marked EPE 568 EM snatched from one David Gobble of Ogbor-Hill Aba.
“Other items recovered included three locally made shotguns, live and expended Cartridges, nine GSM phones, one wristwatch, one National ID card bearing Uzoefuna Ifechi Kingsley, two wedding rings (identified) and cash sum of N65, 020. Investigation has commenced toward arresting the fleeing members of the gang.”
