Former member of House of Representatives and senatorial hopeful for Delta North District, Prince Ned Nwoko, has officially commenced consultations and ‘blessing seeking’ visitations in his local government area of Aniocha North and other council areas in Delta North.

Nwoko officially kick-started his dialogue with Delta north party chieftains, women groups amongst others on April 4.

Addressing party executives and members in Aniocha North, Ndokwa, Ika and Kwale LGA’s, Nwoko noted that the time has come for Delta north voters to get it right again in leadership representation at the Senate.

He affirmed that having consulted with his family members, advisers and political associates, he felt he is the right man for the job, for the Office of the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The international lawyer, however, promised to restore the Anioma dignity in politics if voted in as a Senator in 2019, adding that the calibre and personality of the Senator who represents the Zone at the Senate matters a lot.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of youths outside the Secretariat, after the consultation, Nwoko urged them to brace up to the task ahead, stressing that it is the turn of Aniocha to produce the next Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent Delta North Senatorial District.

He said, “The office of the Senator requires a personality who is distinguished and not one that continually brings shame and reproach to a people. We have been seriously short-changed and we cannot continue to allow it. We need quality representation and because Anioma people are dignified and respected people, we must watch whom we send to Abuja to represent us.

“Let me further tell you that as far as this contest is concerned, I have no rival by the grace of God. I know I am eminently qualified and positioned to emerge victorious by your support, endorsement and active role in the process.”

Aniocha North PDP Chairman, Prince Victor Egbune, noted in his reaction that what Prince Ned Nwoko had come to do was official consultation with the PDP in the local government, where he is a bona-fide and active member, after which he would do an intent declaration later in the year based on INEC timetable.

“But I must emphasize that Ned Nwoko is our son here at the home front. While we would not discriminate, we must ensure that a level playing field is provided for all to advance their political aspirations,” Egbune said.

The PDP Secretariat in Issele-Uku was a carnival of sort, as party elders, women and youths trooped out in their numbers to show solidarity to a man known as the Star Prince of Anioma, Prince Ned Nwoko.

As a member of House of Representative from 1999 to 2003, Nwoko sponsored a Bill for the establishment of a National Information Network Centre and a bill for an Act establishing a National Disability Allowance.

Other bills sponsored by Nwoko are an Act for prohibition of corporal punishment in schools, a bill for an Act for compulsory vehicle road worthiness test, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) reform bill (2000), bill for an Act to establish public funds recovery and reward commission, a bill for an Act for the establishment of a National minimum wages council, National Minimum Wage bill (withdrawn) and bill for an Act to standardize allowances and fringe benefits payable to Public Government Officials.

The rest are Bill for an Act for continuity of evidence in Court proceedings, bill for an Act for compulsory professional indemnity in Nigeria, a bill for an Act for the protection of Nigerians abroad, bill for the amendment of Firearms Act, a bill for an Act for the consolidation of all decrees, bill for an Act for the prohibition of expensive burial rites in Nigeria, bill for an Act for Community Legal Service, bill for an Act for the convening of a National Conference, a Bill for an Act for establishing a National Sports University and bill for an Act for compulsory Fire & Insurance Regulations at Homes and Offices.
