A 32-year-old security guard, identified as Friday Ayuba, has been arrested by the police in Ogun for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba.

The suspect was apprehended following a report lodged at the Owode-Egba Police Division on May 30, 2026, by the manager of the affected company, who alleged that Ayuba was caught attempting to move company property without authorization.

Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed in a statement that the suspect was initially intercepted by operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) at the Sagamu Interchange axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to the police, Ayuba, who worked as a security guard for the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the company’s premises.
Items recovered from him include four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all of which were identified by the company as its property.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly admitted to stealing the items during interrogation.

Detectives subsequently visited the scene for further investigation and documentation, while the recovered spare parts were secured as exhibits.

The Ogun State Police Command said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the vigilance of the company’s management and the swift action of the Quick Response Squad and officers of the Owode-Egba Division, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, said their coordinated efforts led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspect.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting businesses, critical assets, and residents across the state through intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime prevention measures.

He also urged employers and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.

The police investigation is ongoing.
