Security Forces Foil Attack on Maiduguri, Kill Multiple Boko Haram Terrorists

Malik Yahya/

Nigerian military and police, this evening, overpowered terrorists who had made an incursion into Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

Security forces reportedly killed no fewer than nine of the terrorists and also captured one gun truck with a heavy machine gun, assorted weapons and multiple motorcycles belonging to them.

Weapons recovered from the terrorists.

The insurgents had launched an attack earlier this evening targeting the garrison town of Maiduguri.

As Muslims were preparing for the break of fast on the 29th day of Ramadan, residents reported hearing gunfire and explosions from artillery shelling, targeting the terrorists.

A combined police and military reinforcement convoy was also reportedly seen heading towards the Jiddari Polo axis of the city.
