Police officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force this morning took over the toll gate at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following a disagreement between aviation unions in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the managers of the facility, Integrated Intelligent Imaging West Africa Limited (I-CUBE).
The security officers were deployed to restore peace as the crisis between FAAN and I-CUBE, which began yesterday continued on Tuesday morning.
Some FAAN staff have reportedly chased away workers of I-CUBE at the toll gate yesterday morning.
The presence of the security officials has however provided free access to motorists as the toll gate was left open for everyone.
After dislodging I-CUBE workers from the toll gate yesterday, the union leaders had drafted personnel from the agency’s commercial department to control toll collection.
The workers alleged that I-CUBE’s contract with FAAN had expired since February last year.
