President Muhammadu Buhari with the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki

The National Assembly is set to pass the 2017 budget by the end of March, the Senate President announced today.

“This month is our deadline to finish work on the budget and return it to the executive,” Senate President Bukola Saraki said after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and the head of parliament’s lower chamber.

Buhari presented his record N7.298 trillion ($23.21 billion) budget to lawmakers in December.

The budget must be accepted by lawmakers before being returned to the president and passed into law.

Heads of ministries and agencies of government have already appeared at the National Assembly to defend their budgets.

  1. Budget of the government, for the government and by the government. Same old story! Fighting corruption on the surface, while corruption and treachery looting is made legitimate via annual budgets to cater for their greed.
This so called ” government of the people ” budgeted for everything yearly and nothing is yearly ever done.
