Sanwo-Olu Pledges Stronger Security Partnership as DIG Fayoade Seeks Enhanced Police-Government Collaboration

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to sustain peace, safety, and economic growth in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to security agencies to enhance their capacity to protect lives and property across Lagos.

The governor stated this while receiving the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-West and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), DIG Adegoke Fayoade, at Lagos House, Ikeja.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, Sanwo-Olu described security as a critical pillar for economic development, investment attraction, and social stability, noting that Lagos remains one of the safest states in the country.

He said the state government treats security matters with utmost importance because the safety and well-being of residents remain a top priority.

According to the governor, his administration will continue to work closely with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and other security agencies to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

“We will continue to improve our security framework and ensure that Lagos remains safe, secure, and conducive for residents, businesses, and investors,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu also commended the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for its dedication to maintaining peace and order in Lagos, while expressing appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering commitment to public safety.

Earlier, DIG Adegoke Fayoade said his visit was in line with the policy direction of the Inspector-General aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and strengthening policing strategies across the South-West region.

The DIG stressed the importance of intelligence-led policing, strategic partnerships, and improved coordination among stakeholders in addressing evolving security challenges.

He said the visit provided an opportunity to assess operational readiness, review crime-fighting strategies, and explore measures to further improve the efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command.

Fayoade praised the Lagos State Government for its sustained financial and logistical support to security operations, noting that such assistance has played a significant role in effective policing and crime prevention across the state.

He also called for deeper collaboration in the areas of technology deployment, intelligence gathering, and information sharing to ensure a proactive response to criminal activities.

According to him, stronger synergy between government and security agencies will further enhance public safety and strengthen security outcomes in Lagos.

The DIG expressed confidence that sustained cooperation between the police and the state government would continue to bolster efforts aimed at keeping Lagos safe and secure for residents and businesses alike.
