Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, once lobbied to serve as Chief of Staff to his current deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, when the latter was running for governorship four years ago.

Sanwo-Olu was sworn in as governor alongside Hamzat as his deputy on Wednesday.

This fact was revealed by media personality, Toni Kan, in a Facebook post yesterday.

Toni Kan wrote: “The day I met our new Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwaolu, he said something that I will never forget because it speaks to the heart of how God directs the affairs of men.

“He said – ‘4 years ago, I was lobbying to be Femi Hamzat’s Chief of Staff when he was running for Governor. Today, I am running for Governor and he will be my deputy. You see this thing, it is God who gives it’.

“The race is not to the swift o. Just stay on your lane, je je and let God do his thing. #feelingmotivated.”
