LAGOS — Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will on Thursday lead a gathering of prominent political and media figures at the 7th Annual Lecture of Freedom Online newspaper, where Nigeria’s political future, economy and security will take centre stage.
The lecture, scheduled to hold in Ikeja, Lagos, has as its theme, “2027 Elections, Economy, Security and Nigeria’s Future.”
Sanwo-Olu is expected to deliver the keynote lecture against the backdrop of growing national conversations around the 2027 general elections, economic challenges, security concerns and the direction of the country in the years ahead.
Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, will chair the event, while former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Gbenga Daniel, will attend as Special Guest of Honour.
Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Freedom Online, Gabriel Akinadewo, announced the lineup in a statement, saying other eminent Nigerians are also expected at the annual gathering.
President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and Editor of Vanguard newspaper, Eze Anaba, will serve as Chief Host.
Now in its seventh edition, the Freedom Online Annual Lecture provides a platform for public officials, political leaders, media professionals and other stakeholders to interrogate major issues shaping Nigeria’s development and democratic trajectory.
This year’s theme places the spotlight squarely on some of the issues expected to dominate national discourse as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, particularly the state of the economy, security challenges and the choices likely to shape the country’s future.
