Gov. Sanwo-Olu addresses the world at Cran Montana Forum in Belgium.
At the 36th annual session of the Crans Montana Forum in Belgium, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu delivered a compelling speech emphasizing Nigeria’s role in reshaping the global narrative about Africa.
The governor addressed the persistent misconceptions that have historically painted Africa as a global liability, advocating for a more accurate portrayal that reflects the continent’s true essence and value.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted Africa’s immense value, noting its vast reserves of crucial resources like cobalt, diamonds, and uranium. He pointed out that Africa holds 65% of the world’s arable land, positioning it as a key player in global food security. Additionally, the continent is home to around 40% of the world’s mineral reserves, including significant shares of gold, chromium, and platinum.
He stressed that Africa is no longer seeking mere inclusion but is asserting itself as an equal partner on the global stage, ready to engage and collaborate actively.
Sanwo-Olu underscored Nigeria’s leadership in this transformative era, particularly highlighting Lagos as a vibrant hub of innovation and progress.
The governor called for a united effort to redefine Africa’s story, showcasing the continent’s true potential to the world. He emphasized that with a shared purpose and vision, Africa can assert its place as a formidable force in shaping the future.
