The police in Ogun have held a salesman who allegedly planned with robbers to burgle his employer’s shop.
According to the police, 31-year-old Micheal Daniel when officers began to investigate a complaint lodged by the employer, identified as Mrs Titilayo Ero of Dorf Royal Event Centre, in Asero area of Abeokuta.
Mrs Ero reported that she had about 52 computer monitors in her store, only for her to get to the store on September 30, to find that the store had been burgled and all the computer monitors carted away.
The police told NewsmakersNG in a statement signed by the spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi that on the strength of her report, detectives from the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) were detailed to unravel the mystery behind the missing items.
The statement says: “The detectives swiftly moved into action and invited the salesman who was barely three weeks old in the employment of the centre. When he was thoroughly interrogated, he confessed to being the brain behind the dastardly act.
“He explained further that he invited one Smith Ajao ‘m’ 23 years old to join him in the night for the operation. The said Smith Ajao was traced to a hotel in Sango Ota, where he was promptly arrested. He subsequently led detectives to the Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, where 48 pieces of the computer monitors were recovered.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the case is properly investigated and that the suspects be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
He urged members of the public to always scrutinize whoever they wanted to employ properly before giving them the job.
