Idimu and Igando areas of Lagos have been under siege by armed robbers since Sunday.

It began with a robbery at an eatery, Chunkies, at On-George Bus Stop, along Idimu-Ikotun Road, on Sunday afternoon.

One person was reportedly shot during the attack, while customers were stripped of their valuables.

It was soon followed by another attack by the same gang in Igando area in which a vehicle was snatched.

NewsMakers also learnt that on Monday night, gunmen numbering seven attacked another motorist along the Isheri-Iba expressway.

The gang succeeded in snatching the victim’s green-coloured Renault Laguna, marked LND 180 EG.

The victim, who spoke with NewsMakers, said he was accosted by two men brandishing a revolver and a locally-made pistol when he slowed down in traffic around Idowu-Egba Bus Stop.

He said immediately he was forced to stop, five more men appeared from nowhere and ordered him out of his vehicle, which they drove away in.

The victim said, “They were seven. One had a revolver and another carried a locally-made pistol. One first walked up to me and I thought he was going to ask for help with something until he he pointed his gun at me. His partner also flashed his own gun at the same time. Then the rest came out when they saw that I had been cornered by first the two. It happened in front of Diamond Bank on the expressway.”

He gave the vehicle’s chassis number as VF 1B56 LKC 17416210 and the engine number as 437P7217171.

He further disclosed that he reported the incident immediately at the Idimu police station.
