Newsmakersng learnt that three policemen and a woman-sergeant were crushed to death by a truck after their patrol vehicle had an accident along Agbowa Road in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The police team was out to arrest suspected fake policemen operating in the area.

They were heading back to the state headquarters in Ikeja, when a truck lost control and rammed into their patrol vehicle, which had skidded off the road and fell into a ditch.

Three policemen were killed on the spot, while the fourth officer died at the hospital.

The victims were identified as Inspector Donatus Igwe, the driver of the patrol vehicle; Inspector Segun Ajibade, Woman-Sergeant Blessing Umoru, and Sergeant Idowu Ibidapo, who died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja, because he was not given oxygen on time.
