The principal of Community High School, Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, who endured weeks in the hands of kidnappers during the mass abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, has received a brand-new Toyota Camry in recognition of her courage and resilience.

The vehicle was donated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, as a tribute to the educator’s strength and unwavering commitment during one of the state’s most traumatic school kidnapping incidents.

Mrs. Alamu was among the teachers abducted alongside pupils during the May attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area.

While in captivity, she was reportedly compelled by the kidnappers to appear in several video recordings used to communicate with the outside world, becoming one of the most visible faces of the harrowing ordeal.

Presenting the car, Senator Alli praised the principal for her remarkable courage, composure and dedication to the safety and welfare of the abducted pupils despite the frightening circumstances.

He described the donation as a token of appreciation for her resilience and a demonstration of solidarity with victims of insecurity.

Alli expressed the hope that the gift would ease her recovery, restore some measure of comfort after the traumatic experience, and encourage her as she returns to the classroom to continue shaping young lives.

Mrs. Alamu and the other abducted teachers and pupils were eventually rescued after spending several weeks in captivity, ending an ordeal that had gripped families, the Oriire community and Oyo State with anxiety and drawing widespread relief across the state.
