Today’s session in the House of Representatives has reportedly become rowdy as members disagree over the declaration of June 12 as new Democracy Day
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday declared that Democracy Day would be marked on June 12 instead of May 29, from next year.
NewsmakersNG learnt that some of the lawmakers support the President’s decision while others oppose it.
Those who oppose the decision argue that the President lacks the constitutional power to make such a declaration.
Principal officers of the House, including the Speaker, are still trying to calm frayed nerves as at press time.
