Convener of the #RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore, may soon regain his freedom as Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, today ordered the State Security Service (SSS) to release him within 24 hours.

The SSS had declined to release Sowore despite two separate court orders, insisting on verifying his sureties before complying with the order.

The judge also awarded a N100,000 fine against the SSS over its delay to serve the defence counsel with additional proof of evidence in the ongoing trial of Sowore and his co-accused, Olawale Bakare.

The judge said the fine must be paid to the defendants before tomorrow when the trial is scheduled to resume.
