Samuel Ojeogwu, better known as Sammy West and brother to Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has been granted bail after his arrest and detention on multiple charges including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation and theft.

Sammy was reportedly arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja, where he was arraigned on November 6, 2025.

The court granted him bail on Monday.

The case is believed to be linked to the ongoing marital dispute between Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Reports indicate that a petition from Nwoko’s team prompted the police action that led to Sammy’s arrest.

Footage from the court premises shows family members, including Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, and actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, who has openly supported Regina, reacting joyfully to Sammy’s release.

Activist, Omoyele Sowore, also confirmed the development on X, posting, “BREAKING: SAMMY WEST IS FREE! We are thrilled to announce that Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, has regained his freedom and has just been released from prison. He is now on his way to Abuja.

“While at it, I had the pleasure of meeting the gracious actress @realmercyj and others who came through in solidarity.

“It’s a moment of relief, joy, and renewed resolve—proof that people power works and that injustice can never outlast determination.”
