Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has shared her emotional journey from selling olive oil and local drinks at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City to becoming one of Africa’s most celebrated female footballers.
Ajibade, who led Nigeria to victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, was a special guest at the Power Must Change Hands programme held today at the church’s Prayer City along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
She attended the service in the company of her mother, who was visibly moved as the football star recounted her humble beginnings.

The Atlético Madrid forward presented her WAFCON winner’s medal, her Woman of the Tournament plaque, and other individual honours to the General Overseer of MFM, Dr Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, in appreciation of their spiritual support over the years. The moment drew a standing ovation from the congregation.
Ajibade, who worshipped at MFM during her early years, used the opportunity to testify to God’s faithfulness in her life. She recalled hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks during deliverance services within the Prayer City, saying her story is one of divine upliftment.
“I was once that little girl out there hawking olive oil, hawking zobo, and hawking kunu in most of the deliverance programmes,” she said. “But today, I give God the glory because the God of Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries is still in the business of lifting men.”
Ajibade played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s successful WAFCON campaign, scoring crucial goals, winning three Woman of the Match awards, and leading her team to a 3–2 victory over Morocco in the final.
Ajibade told the congregation that her return to MFM to present her medals and awards was an act of gratitude, not just to the church leaders, but also to God. “Please don’t give up, keep praying, keep fasting, keep working, and keep believing,” she urged worshippers, many of whom she said were still going through the same struggles she once endured.
She thanked Pastor Olukoya for his constant intercessions and spiritual mentorship, describing him as a father figure whose prayers and teachings helped shape her faith and discipline.
Her testimony was met with cheers and tears from the congregation, many of whom remembered her early days.
