To dispel rumours that he and his wife, Busola, were wedded by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, singer, Timi Dakolo today released a video of the couple’s wedding.
The video, which Dakolo posted on Instagram, was accompanied by a post in which he said rather the couple were wedded by Pastor Yemi Davids of Global Impact Church.
Dakolo also said he had neither met Fatoyinbo nor attended COZA before, not to talk of being a music director in the church.
He accused those peddling falsehood about his family of engaging in a smear campaign out of desperation.
He said the only reason he and his wife chose to make their story public was to encourage others who are living under similar burdens to speak out.
Busola, a photographer and mother of three, had recently alleged that Fatoyinbo raped her twice about 20 years ago in Ilorin, Kwara State, when she was 17.
The public outcry that followed Busola’s claim had forced Fatoyinbo to step down from his position as the Senior Pastor of COZA, despite the fact that he denied the allegation.
Since the story broke, several people have queried the validity of Busola’s story, claiming that she and her husband had continued to attend COZA after the purported rape happened and were even wedded by the same Fatoyinbo.
Some also questioned why Mr. Dakolo agreed to become music director at COZA, a church headed by the man that allegedly raped his wife.
Others claimed that Fatoyinbo gifted the couple a six figure amount and a vacation overseas after their wedding and they did not reject it.
