Popular singer, Timi Dakolo, has accused the police of sending armed plainclothes officers to harass and intimidate his family under the guise of delivering a letter of summon to him and his wife.

The musician had earlier raised the alarm on Instagram about a white bus with unidentified armed occupants parked in front of his home around 5pm yesterday.

The occupants later turned out to be police detectives, who he claimed harassed his wife and children by forcing their way into his home to deliver an invitation letter.

Dakolo also accused the police of attempting to pervert the course of justice in the rape allegation his wife, Busola, made against the founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Busola, a celebrity photographer, had alleged that Fatoyinbo raped her twice 20 years ago in Ilorin, Kwara State, when she was 17.

Following the outrage that greeted Busola’s accusation, Fatoyinbo was forced to step down from his position in the church, while the police also promised to investigate the matter.

But in sudden twist, the police today sent an invitation letter to Busola Dakolo and her husband, requesting that they report at the police headquarters in Abuja, to answer questions about a case of criminal conspiracy and falsehood involving the two of them.

The letter, which the musician also shared on Instagram, was signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Inspector General of Police Special Tactical Squad, and requested the couple to meet with one DSP Ibrahim Agu on Tuesday.

Dakolo accused the police of double standard and attempting to cover the real issue in order to ensure that the culprits go unpunished by their latest actions.

He queried the motive behind the refusal of the police to investigate the petition his wife submitted in Lagos last month on the same issue and instead chose to act on a counter petition submitted in Abuja only recently.

Dakolo said he and his wife had been alerted to the underhand deals being made to frustrate their efforts to get justice and were fully prepared to fight to the end.
