The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has reportedly ordered that petitions written by Busola, wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo and that of the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, be investigated at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the development followed the intervention of human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, who is the counsel to the Dakolos.
The Dakolos had submitted a petition at the FCID on May 30, accusing Fatoyinbo of raping Busola 20 years ago, when she was 17.
But Fatoyinbo too reportedly wrote a counter petition to the IG Special Tactical Squad in Abuja, accusing the Dakolos of criminal conspiracy and falsehood.
Acting on Fatoyinbo’s petition, the police had invitated the Dakolos to Abuja to respond to the allegations in Fatoyinbo’s petition.
The move by police however sparked public outrage after the Dakolos accused the police of ignoring their own petition, which was submitted earlier, rather, chose to act on Fatoyinbo’s counter petition.
The musician and his wife also faulted the “Gestapo style” the police had employed in delivering the invitation letter to them.
First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, was among those that reacted to the claims by the Dakolos, urging the IG to ensure that justice was done in the matter.
