PSNAFSA Hails Heroic Rescue of Oyo Pupils, Teachers, Urges Nigerians to Back Security Forces

The Prayer and Support for Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has applauded the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State, describing the operation as a shining example of what can be achieved through coordinated security efforts and public cooperation.

The group praised the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, intelligence agencies, local hunters, vigilante groups, and patriotic citizens whose combined efforts led to the victims’ freedom after 56 traumatic days in captivity.

In a statement signed by its Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, PSNAFSA reserved special commendation for the elite Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (SBS), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Panthers, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, describing their professionalism, courage, and operational precision as instrumental to the success of the rescue mission.

According to the organisation, the operation demonstrates the strength of inter-agency collaboration and reinforces confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture when institutions work together toward a common objective.

“The safe return of the pupils and teachers is a remarkable achievement that reflects the power of synergy, resilience, professionalism, and the collective will to protect innocent lives,” the statement said. “It has brought immense relief, renewed hope, and profound joy to the victims’ families and all Nigerians who followed their ordeal with deep concern.”

PSNAFSA noted that the successful operation also highlighted the sacrifices made daily by members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, many of whom continue to risk their lives in defence of the nation’s territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens.

The organisation further acknowledged the critical contributions of local hunters, community vigilantes, and patriotic Nigerians who supported the operation through vigilance, intelligence gathering, and cooperation with security agencies.

It said the rescue underscored the importance of strong partnerships between security forces and local communities in the fight against kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes.

While celebrating the successful rescue, PSNAFSA expressed sorrow over the death of a teacher during the incident, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and asking God to comfort his family, colleagues, and the entire school community.

The group urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces, Police, and other security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, remaining vigilant, and praying for personnel engaged in frontline operations.

Describing security as a shared national responsibility, PSNAFSA called on the Federal Government to deepen investment in the security sector through the provision of modern equipment, improved logistics, actionable intelligence, and enhanced welfare packages for personnel confronting evolving security threats.

The organisation also prayed for divine protection, wisdom, strength, and success for security personnel across the country, expressing hope that all Nigerians still being held hostage by criminal groups would soon regain their freedom.

It encouraged security agencies to sustain the momentum until every hostage is rescued, criminal networks are dismantled, and communities across Nigeria can live, learn, work, and worship in peace.
