- AIG, 11 CPs, 13 DCPs, and 412 CSPs Promoted

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of AIG Dankwara Adamu Mohammed as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to represent the North-East geopolitical zone, following the retirement of DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya.
The decision, part of a sweeping promotion exercise, also includes the elevation of CP Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and 11 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The promotions were ratified during the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the Commission, presided over by its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), mni, at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, Abuja.
Among those promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police are Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Nendel Joseph Gomwalk, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, and Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf. Others include Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.
The PSC also approved the promotion of 13 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), including David Gbenga Ojo, Umaru Bello Bichi, Bala Salihu Jarumai, Makanjuola Abiodun, and Omololu Vaughan.
Additionally, 44 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), while 412 Superintendents of Police (SPs) were elevated to Chief Superintendents (CSPs).
Among those promoted to CSP rank are Emmanuel Peter Okoh, Fawole Oludayo, Nwaneri Georgina Oluchi (DPO Abakaliki Road, Enugu), Ngozi Ajaegbu (Special Fraud Unit, Lagos Annex), Okoye Tobechukwu Godwin (Unwana Division, Ebonyi Command), and Sarah Maximus Oloto (DCO, A Division, Uyo).
Several Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were also promoted to Superintendents (SPs), including Rekpene Ukpabi Ekoh (Ebonyi Command), Tonga Monday (48 PMF Ahoada, Rivers State), and Omiegbu Christian Emenike (Delta Command).
The Commission further confirmed the appointment of several Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), among them Elizabeth Obike (SPU National Assembly), Adeoye Olufemi (Staff Officer, Lagos PPRO), and Osuagwu Precious Chioma (SPU Base 6, Port Harcourt).
PSC Chairman DIG Argungu (rtd) congratulated all newly promoted officers and urged them to demonstrate renewed dedication, professionalism, and integrity in service to the nation.
He noted that the promotion exercise underscores the Commission’s determination to reward merit, uphold discipline, and strengthen leadership capacity across the Nigerian Police Force.
The plenary meeting, attended by Commissioners Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd, fdc), Justice Christine Ladi Dabup, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission, continues today, Friday, October 17, 2025.
